• Lares & Penates (2006) 30"h x 68"w x 78"d, Glass, metal, ash, and wood

This installation is inspired by columbariums and the act of creating a shrine for the scant remains left from a cremated body. The ashes of the objects contained in this piece were all intimate belongings from a variety of people; the common thread is that they became unwanted possessions of their owners. Taking these castoff materialities, burning them, and immortalizing their remains in a more precious, lasting material (glass) gives them a new importance.
